Developing students language and cultural understandings

The Italian program

The Italian program is taught by a specialist teacher and is supported throughout the curriculum by classroom teachers.

The Language program is organised into themes and topics, all organised to provide opportunities and activities for students to develop their language and cultural understanding.

The cultural theme is explored and celebrated throughout the school, with a pivotal Italian Day held once a year.

Younger years
Foundation to Year 2 students focus on cultural understanding, and are introduced to simple language. These students participate in activities that encourage an understanding of Italian culture and language.

Older students
Years 3 to 6 students continue to learn about Italian culture. These students also focus on developing speaking and listening skills along with reading and writing.
