Creating a love of literature
Our Library program
The Library program aims to promote a love of literature and reading, as well as to develop skills related to research and critical thinking. Topics covered relate to themes studied in the classroom and a close liaison occurs with the classroom teachers.
Building essential skills
Structure
Students attend a weekly session led by the school’s Library Teacher. Library skills include identification of book parts, alphabetical order, library organisation and care and protection of books. As the children progress through the school, so the skills develop to cover
- Note-taking
- Research skills
- Use of Table of Contents
- Index & bibliographies
The Library is open at break times to allow children to read and borrow books.
